Support the work of SMI by volunteering at our headquarters

Get Involved By Volunteering

Our mission is accomplished through the help, support and partnerships of individuals, churches, organizations and volunteers.  There are a number of ways that you can get involved as a volunteer.

More Volunteer Opportunities

Warehouse Volunteer

Put your name on the “Warehouse On-Call” list and the days/times you are available. We will contact you when help is needed in the warehouse to load, unload or process shipments of products.

  • Level of Difficulty: Medium to Heavy

Relief Sorting

We process and ship products on a regular basis.  There is always a need for volunteers who can help sort the donated products we receive.  Join our Tuesday or Wednesday sorting teams for “hands-on” mission service.  Volunteer sorters are vital to the successful shipments of quality clothing and shoes.

  • Level of Difficulty: Light to Medium

Building and Grounds

Help us maintain our warehouse facility and grounds by volunteering your time and skills in mowing, trimming and general building and grounds clean-up.

Group Volunteer Opportunities:

Is your church group, business or other organization looking for a service project?  We welcome groups to come and work together.
Here are some of the types of projects your group could work on together:
  • Sorting and packaging donations
  • Community clothing drives
  • School and craft supplies donation drives
  • Special Projects: Occassionally there are special projects for volunteers that may include assembly of gift packages for distribution to orphans, children-at-risk, elderly, poor families, prisoners and other people groups.
To arrange a project and service day, please call our offices.

Youth groups are welcome, but please note that children under 12 years old are not permitted due to safety issues.  Volunteers 12-15 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
