Mercy Ministries
To obey the biblical admonition, “to visit orphans and widows in their affliction” and “to do good to everyone” by providing spiritual and physical help in partnership with national believers (Gal 6:10; James 1:27).
Historically, orphans and widows have been a neglected area of Church ministries in Eastern Europe. Recently, there has been a resurgence of interest and compassion for orphans and widows. Over the past ten years, the Lord has provided SMI with some very gifted and compassionate people to help lead these kinds of ministries in Moldova.
What are we doing to see this happen?

SMI is a strategic partner with an organization called
Help the Children (HTC). HTC places orphan children with Christian foster parents. In addition to this, there is a Transitional Care (TC) program for children who have finished high school and are transitioning into society from the orphanage. The TC program provides a group home environment where these young people are able to develop life skills.
In conjunction with HTC, we provide home improvement/repair assistance to selected families that demonstrate the greatest need.
SMI facilitates ministry to orphanages through regular visits, needs assessments and spiritual influence. We also meet physical needs of the orphanages: blankets, quilts, food, appliances and remodeling/repairs are some of the ways in which we are helping.
SMI is shipping a limited number of containers to Moldova. As warehouse space becomes available, we will increase our humanitarian aid program.
